beautiful. The struggles of growing up and wanting to be
recognized are fully explored in this wonderfully written novel.

Kenny Watson tells about his African American family in
Flint, Michigan, in 1963 in this often hilarious and sometimes
heart wrenching novel. It doesn’t seem likely that any other
narrator could make this book come to life like Levar Burton.
